Anime Debate Question

Debate Topic 8: Who is the strangest, most unconventional, or most unique main character you've ever seen?

I don't even hesitate to say Hajime Ichinose from Gatchaman Crowds. I've seen some interesting main characters, but Hajime is just...strange. She's happy go lucky, sweet, happy, and shines like the sun in the night sky as a wonderful human being. She has a naïve disposition and a few idiosyncrasies that are just odd, and yet she is always saying and doing things that are wise beyond her years. She's basically a non-religious saint who I can't wrap my head around. And the way the others just act like her outbursts and strange movements...and humming...are normal feels like an ongoing joke to me.

Huh, that's a toughie. My first thought was Luffy, though the more I think about it, the more I find that my definition for strange needs to be modified. For me, the most unusual main character I've ever seen was Haruko Haruhara from FLCL. I actually appreciated her as a character, in spite of being probably the most erratic and zany character I can think of.

As with what Whiteflame said, I would usually be inclined to go for Luffy, because there's something about him that is just very different from most main characters, like the fact that he helps people, but isn't really a hero, because he still cares about his goal, which is to further his own position as a pirate... however, he also is reasonably silly and says some ridiculously stupid things that make him seem like a right idiot.

On second thoughts, though, I have seen a few other weird main characters, as well, like Allen Walker from D. Gray Man, who is just different to most main characters, too, like with his tendency to be painfully kind and also quite naive, but also can act quite devilish at times and get the audience laughing at him... In essence, he is a more intelligent version of Luffy, but with a slight more hero tendency.
