I think it should be considered one. The drawing style seems pretty much the same as with other anime. Plus, it has a good storyline, as well.

The thing that pisses me of is when people put Avatar down for not being an Anime. When they say Avatar isn't good because it's not an anime. Anime or not, this show is kick ass.

^ Yeah, I fully agree. It bugs me when people go that far to rubbish it, just because it doesn't seem quite like a lot of the other anime out there. It's so epic!

I think it's close enough to being one. The only reason it isn't considered anime is because it's not Japanese.

Honestly, I think it depends on your own definition of anime. Some people say to be an anime it just has to be from Japan. Others say it depends on the plot line, art style, ect.
@Username: Agreed. Really, I couldn't care less where a series is from. I will never think less of a show simply because it is not from one specific country. I think Japan is a wonderful fascinating country, but just because it is the origin of anime doesn't make it the God of all countries and that all other countries productions are automatically less than it. Anime or not, Avatar is still one of the greatest shows I've ever seen~

Since its technically not officially an anime I'd say no, but I would like to consider it an anime, because of the similar art style. I've also seen it on a lot of anime sites where you can watch anime XD

No, it isn't. It wasn't made in Japan or produced in Japan. There for not an anime, that is a fact. It maybe based off the anime style, but that doesn't make it an anime. Anime is Japanese animation, which it isn't.

I never even though it had an anime art style, I've never seen an anime even close to how it is drawn. At least in other anime, you can see similarities between them. Avatar is different.

@EmoSasuSaku & Zanhar. Hmmm, you're probably right. I remember a friend of mine told me that HOTD was made in America, or something. I guess it goes to show that you don't listen to the things friends say sometimes. I always wondered about that, too, because I was pretty skeptical about it supposedly being made in America, which is apparently not the case.

I don't consider it as one; and like Zeppie said, I've always classified it as a western cartoon. It has a lot of similarities though.

But even so, Avatar's an awesome show; anime or not. ~

I feel like the artwork is too good to consider it a cartoon. I consider it an anime because it's far from an average cartoon and, in some cases, is better than an actual anime.
But if it's not going to be classified as an anime, then whatever.

Just because the artwork is awesome doesn't make it an anime. It can be based off the anime style, like when people make fanart. But doesn't make it an anime. Anime = Japanese cartoon.

@Stella: Yeah. I have seen some of both shows. I did not like them. The storyline was not good and the characters were quite boring. I've seen it a lot of times on Nickelodeon when I look on the TV Guide. It's annoying and stupid. I don't see why it should be an anime when it is airing on Nickelodeon. It's also boring too, because I thought that Avatar was not a very good series and it was stupid and boring. Sorry if I am offending any of you Avatar fans here.

I don't think Lightening it up will work Jess. Some people say they hate a show, and it starts a battle. I have seen this before. Your opinion might be good, but it might not in some ways.

Not TRUE anime but they are STYLED after anime. So overall these are ANIME-STYLED series
