I think Angel always had this view of the Slayer as a shining beacon of light, hat she was just goodness personified and any mistake she made wasn't a mistake because she was the Chosen One. Angel treats Buffy like glass, the girl isn't wise enough in his eyes to make the right decision but the Slayer part of her is so pure she is the enbodiment of his salvation.

Spike on the other hand/claw/fang views Buffy as a complete person. The girl and the Slayer pieces being one in the same and it isn't that she is above life - above the mistakes and the play in the shadows - but part of it. Buffy is a person who decides to use her power for good and it's her choices that make her who she is. She isn't this bright light that can wipe away all the wrongs and she isn't incapable of making her own decisions, she's the one with the strenght and the heart to lead others.

I agree with Katie, Angel did know or two things about Power how to use. When Angel was in Los Angelos he had moment in the epsiode "I Will Remember You" after all time went on wonky when Angel became mortal, It made him realize that Buffy and His destiny was out save the world. Angel was saying this after the epsiode.

Spike was actually the only vampire who killed two slayers in his time when he became "William the Bloody". Spike had the knowledge of a Slayer. The true meaning of it. In Season 6 -7 shows that Spike was realizing that Buffy was broken, mess-up with her head. He was understand how much it was killing her, towards the end of Season 7. Spike was explaning to Buffy that she is there Leader, and that "You Are The Strongest One". Telling her that he loves her the way she is.
