my sister watched Buffy long before i did so i actually knew some of the story lines before i watched it properly
but i wasnt expecting Joyces death at all. ♥

Good Pick! For me, this moment was when the show really became something special, because it showed that they weren't fooling around. Unlike a lot of shows where all the problems are solved at the end of the hour and everything returns to normal, "Buffy" set itself apart by showing that big events had big consequences, and no one was immune to the fallout.

i think the most shocking thing was when angel actually lost his soul and became angelus but it wasnt an option

When Angel came back I was like "What the hell?" =D Also Tara's death totally shocked and hurt me. I just didn't see it coming.

i think buffy having a sister was also a really big shock....but just not a big shock to me because i remember hearing that they were looking for a young actress between 13-17 to be casted as buffy's younger sister. so since i had heard about that before season 5 aired, i knew buffy was going to haev a younger sister, i just didn't know the storyline of dawn being the key.

but joyce's death was a total surprise and shock to me!! tara's also...but for some reason, i wasnt quite as shocked (maybe because the episode before willow and tara are soooo happy....and in the tv world whenever someone is REALLY happy, something bad usually follows...)
but i was not prepared at all for joyce's death!

xander saving the world was pretty surprising as well, to me atleast.

great options so hard to pick 1, Joyce's death because it had came at the end of a pretty funny episode, april the lovbot and totally unexpectidly, i think the word mommy just felt like a kick in the stomach and then i had to wait another week wonderin wtf!!! buff killin angel is prob the most depressingly sad scene of the show the irony is unbelievable i was left hating xander which i thought not possible.
Spike rape is a complete shocker aswell didnot think he wudhave stooped that low, saw tara's death comingthou i was more worried about buffy dying again. Dawn had me stumped for awhile 2
