	fanfly said: Snape wasn't a good Potions teacher. He played favourites and regularly demeaned his students. He was a better Dark Arts teacher but still, I don't think he was spectacular. His true value was in being an incredibly brave and dedicated double agent- not a good teacher. posted over a year ago.

It demeans the character entirely if you can't even notice his flaws, which everyone has. He's not perfect; nobody is. The only students he openly respected were from Slytherin so I don't see why Gryffindor/Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff students should show him any respect. He wasn't a very good teacher at all - he had the knowledge and wisdom of course but IMO it takes more than knowledge to be considered a good teacher.
