I don't think the sorting hat is always right, for example I don't think Peter belonged in Gryffindor. However, I think the sorting hat is right 99% of the time and Hermione is very brave. It obviously thought she'd do better in Gryffindor than Ravenclaw.

Nope, she shouldn't! It shows that Gryffindor's aren't filled with only recklessly brave people. They have their fair share of intelligent people as well. Like Lily (Evans) Potter!
Plus 'Mione was extremely brave and loyal, always sticking it out with Harry no matter how rough it got.
