He really kills it as Snape, I really like him. It does bother me though that they didn't find a younger actor to portray the role as Severus is supposed to be in his late 30s/early 40s rather than in his 60s.

If one day they make a remake of the movies or a mini-series, I think Severus' part will be the most difficult to cast. Alan is the best : attitude, voice, facial expressions, gaze and glares. He also gave a strong sex appeal to a character that was not specifically supposed to have any.

He may appear a bit too old but we must keep in mind that Severus had a very hard life in the saga : teacher, head of house, double agent to 2 very demanding masters, all this ensure a high level of stress, without mentioning the danger, anxiety, anger, regret and remorse he felt. It's a wonder Severus did not die of a heart attack before the end !

The only significant problem was his age. Snape was supposed to be in his 30s, and I definitely pictured Snape as younger in the books. However, I think he portrayed him well acting-wise.
