depends on when your referring to when they were kids I say no James was a jerk & bully where Snape tried to give everyone a chance instead of putting them down. As adults I'd say yes but Snape I think is a much more skilled wizard then James they both were great wizards and loved Lily ♥

They both had a place in their hearts for Harry, which was key in the whole storyline. They both loved Lily and they are amazing wizards who fought until they were defeated.

Snape tried to bring Harry down, just as James put Snape down. Snape was just as much a jerk and a bully as James was. Just because he didn't pull Harry's pants down in public, does not leave him entirely innocent.

Both were bullies with redeeming qualities. Both loved Lily, both gave their lives fighting against the Dark Lord, both ended up having very big character changes.
