This character has known an interesting evolution. At the beginning, we can say that courage is not Draco's first virtue.

But as he grows up and evolve into an adult confronted with harsh choices to make (killing Dumbledore ? disobeying Voldemort ? betraying Harry or not ? obeying Bellatrix ?), I would be tempted to say that he has developped a certain brand of courage. The courage of NOT playing the part expected from him.

At the start, like Lady Nottingham said, was quite a coward, when they went in the Forbidden Forest, Draco ran for his life at the slighted noise. In the Chamber Of Secrets he was quite the same, and in the Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet Of Fire and the Order of The Phoenix.
He was also quite a coward when he became a Death Eater. Draco feared him in every way and failed his mission in killing Voldemort. Also in The Deathly Hallows Draco and his parents all were cowards when Voldemort was in their house.

No, not a coward. He was just a normal kid. He wasn't brave, but lacking bravery doesn't necessarily make someone a coward. One isn't either brave or cowardly. There is a middle ground.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with being a coward, we have all got a bit of it inside us when our worst fears come

@ koolamelia: There is a lot wrong with being a coward. That's why it's seen as a negative trait. A coward is someone who lets fear stop him from doing the right thing and/or compromise their ideals. Being a scaredy cat doesn't make you a coward. It's when you let your fears lead you into doing the wrong things that makes a person a coward.

:) I think you meant that Draco "failed his mission in killing Dumbledore". That to me was one of his few shows of bravery. He was scared for his life, was surrounded by death eaters and his aunt who kept pressuring him to kill Dumbledore. He knew Voldemort would kill him if the task wasn't fulfilled, yet he couldn't bring himself to do the wrong thing.
