What is Hetalia, you ask?
Well, the simplest, most straightforward answer is most likely going to be something like this:
"Hetalia: Axis Powers is a Japanese webcomic, later adapted as a manga and an anime series, by Hidekaz Himaruya. The series' main presentation is as an often over-the-top allegory of political and historic events as well as more general cultural comparisons. Characters are personifications of countries...cultural stereotypes form part of each character's personality." -Wikipedia
...But it's actually a little more than that. What started out as a small webcomic about stereotypical personfications of countries has turned into a huge, very diverse fandom in the past years since it was made.
Hetalia was originally supposed to be a one-chapter parody about Italy's dependency on Germany during World War 2, but has actually turned out to be one of the most popular fandoms ever. On fanfiction.net, Hetalia: Axis Powers is ranked 6 in the top 10 fandoms, with over 72,000 fanfictions and counting. In short, Hetalia was just a simple idea, that has turned into a large fandom.
Our cosplayers aren't just ordinary, run-of-the-mill cosplayers. They're amazing.

And our fanart...it can make us laugh sometimes...

...And other times it makes us cry...

...And sometimes it's just plain amazing.

And the stereotypes? The stereotypes just make Hetalia more humorous. They help us learn to laugh at ourselves once in while, and help us learn that nobody's perfect. Everyone has their fair share of good things and bad things.
The Earth is made up of 196+ nations, but, in the end, what are we really? We're one planet. The thing that makes our world so amazing is that we can manage to fit so many different cultures, languages, and traditions all into one planet.
At the end of the day, who are we, really? We're people. No matter what nationality we are, no matter what language we speak, no matter what our skin color is, we're all people.
All of us have different nationalities, different hair colors, different eye colors. None of us are the same. And yet, we're all the same. Hetalia helps us connect with the world. It's something I'm proud to be part of.Hetalia reminds us that no matter where we are from, we're all still related to one another. Hetalia is something that helps us share the similarities and celebrate the differences.
This is Hetalia.

As I was looking through various drawings, I came across a certain cartoon by an artist who went by 'Humon'. link
This cartoon.
I had absolutely no idea what Hetalia was, so I was a bit confused at the time. I decided to look it up, and that's when it all started.
I've been a Hetalia fan ever since then. How did you find out about Hetalia, and how long have you been a part of the fandom?
