How does the dueling work? (for those who tried it before it went to maintenance)

Another question I have cause I was never able to try the duels before. How do they work? Do you and the one you challenge both have to be online the same time? Is it like fighting each other or just making a spell more accurate and powerful than the other person? I'm curious :P

You just have to go to spells and wizard duel. After, it's pretty simple, you choose if you want to duel against someone or a house team, then you choose the spell you want, I advice Petrificus Totalus and you have to follow correctly the spell and try to do it with potence. I love duels, I'm terrible at Potions and duels helped me to win lots of the points I must've won at potions.
